Dr. Alibrando is also the author of a new book “The 3 Dimensions of Emotions: Finding the Balance of Power, Heart, and Mindfulness in All Your Relationships.” Just as there are three dimensions of the physical world , there are three dimensions of the interpersonal world. How well we learn to navigate them directly corresponds to how well we live our lives, how happy and fulfilled we feel.

Human reactivity is the source of most of our interpersonal problems and pain. The 3 Dimensions of Emotions introduces the concept of working the triangle, a unique practice that provides a compelling yet practical road map that can help you move from painful reactivity to productive proactivity in your relationships and life.

    Key Take Outs

    • Alibrando’s 3 Dimensions – Power, Heart and Mindfulness. We may lean more heavily one way than the other and equally to meet these dimensional needs we may approach them in a positive or negative way. Sam states that women for example have more heart than power while man are often opposite.  For whatever the case we need a balance and to fulfil these needs with positive behaviours. Power can be achieved in very corrupt and unjust ways yet will not only this be less sustainable but it will also affect the heart and mind causing more pain. These are lessons we learn along the journey.
    • Life’s journey – a magical opportunity for us all if only we allow it. The journey of life is our gift and I believe in taking this journey towards becoming who we are truly meant to be, facing all the obstacles, gaining learnings, insight and wisdom, and taking the wins we have is a part of the progression towards fulfilment. We may become distracted and deviate from this path to avoid the challenge of the journey itself but this only makes things more painful. It is being on the journey itself that is truly freeing and fulfilling.
    • The journey of life need not be taken alone. Life is not independent and nor should our journey be. We are all interconnected as humans and as matter within this universe. I believe that we should therefore work collaboratively and in support of each other to reach our full potential. The journey has many tough lessons and for each of these lessons there are mentors and people that have had previous experience. Ask for help when you need it and likewise offer to help others when and where you can.
