  • The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller

Extraordinary results are directly determined by how narrow you can make your focus. -Gary Keller

This is a must read and what I love about this book is that its purpose is very aligned with its key message and that is to focus on just one thing.

If you are like me you struggle to juggle the complexity of everything in life, from managing business and work to spending more time with friends and family.

For those entrepreneurial types out there you will surely be frustrated by the multitude of things you have to do on any given day and most likely struggle to handle the amount of projects or even ideas that you have.

With all the distractions in life that we face daily to handling all our goals and desires the biggest challenge is often then focus. To have focus!

This book has motivated and inspired me to improve my focus and certainly has taught me some skills and ideas that I can use to assist me on my journey to becoming more focused.

Its is ok to dream big and to have a desire to conquer the world but if you lack focus you will lack the time, productivity and effectiveness to make them all happen. If you try to do to many things at once your effectiveness will suffer.

Focus is the ability to centre your attention, concentration or activity on something. The gereat yoru focus the better your ability will be to accomplish that something much quicker and with greater rewards.

John Lee Dumas from Entrepreneur On Fire is a big fan of focus believes it is the biggest key to success. He defines focus as your ability to Follow One Course Until Success.

As I battle with my attention and ability to focus on just one thing, and knowing that my success and ability to achieve everything I desire to is directly impacted by this, I am now on a mission to correct this. It’s probably my biggest battle.

This book is a practical guide on how to improve your focus with the premise revolving entirely around the practice of choosing just one thing.

This is how I will break it down for you. What is that one thing in life right now that you wish to achieve, what is yoru biggest dream, desire or goal right now?

With this as the primary goal remove all others and focus on this one until success. From there you will be able to break it down into the one thing you need to do this year, this quarter, this month, this week and today.

If you have a clear focus and remove all other distractions you will be in a much greater position to stay on track. Your intention and purpose will improve 10 fold as you will become consciously aware and clear on what that one thing is that you need to do.

Each day you do that one thing, your primary goal, everything else in the day will become easier and you will feel much greater satisfied at the end of each day.

Approach your life this way, everything else that you desire or decide to achieve will become also much easier and you will be much more satisfied.

The successful don’t necessarily have all the answers; skills or knowledge but that know the importance of solid habits. Focus is not your ability to be disciplined daily but rather a habit that is formed as a result of being disciplined with your intention initially.

So what is it that you will focus on in your life? What is it that you desire or dare to dream about? What can you do today, that one thing that will get you one step closer to those dreams and goals?

Set your intention, remain focused, and don’t stop or alter course until complete.

This books purpose and intention is very specific and the reward you will get by reading will be life changing.

I would love to hear your thoughts on it if you have read it. Let me know what you think and until next time, peace, passion, purpose and focus!
