  • Information Overload: How to become mindful of what you consume, and increase your effectiveness

    In todays episode I discuss the information age and how it can cause us to be less effective. I share with you the five reasons why we consume information and five tips on how to better navigate through through the overwhelming amount of information we face daily to help you remain effective and still go on to accomplish all that you desire.

    Certainly there are great benefits that come from living in this era. We have access to a greater range of information than ever before that allows us to be more informed, educate and used to make better deacons in life.

    It can also impede however on our effectiveness. Consuming too much information and certainly digesting the wrong time of information can prevent us from taking action.

    Why? Well I am no expert but if you spend hours watching TV you will have less time to be taking action towards all those goals you wish to achieve. Certain types of consumption can be time wasting.

    I also know that too much information can also make us less effective decision makers. When surrounded by choice, which direction will you take.

    There are five reasons we consume information and they are as follows: To inform or educate; for reward or result; to entertain; to dull, numb or release tension/stress; and to conform.

    I share my tips on how to better navigate through the cluster of information available and how to remain effective. Become aware, prioritise, schedule or time chunk, remove distractions and temptations, and act, practice and form habits.
